What is a Supercare Pharmacy?

Supercare Pharmacy is a Victoria Government initiative. Ascot Vale Pharmacy is one of 12 Supercare Pharmacies which are located across metro and regional Victoria. 

Supercare Pharmacies are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A pharmacist is available for usual pharmacy services 24 hours a day. 

The pharmacy provides an evening nursing service between 6.00pm and 10.00pm for minor illness and injury.

Supercare Pharmacies are designed to support the community by providind access to medicines and non-emergency advice and tratment after hours, without having to visit an emergency department, GP, or contact Nurse on Call.

Nursing Service

An onsite nurse is available in the pharmacy every night nbetween 6.00pm to 10.00pm to provide non-emergency health advice and treatment.

What types of services can the nurse provide?

  • Support and advice for minor illness and injury
  • Some immunisations, including influenza and whooping cough
  • Health screening, assessment and advice for illness prevention, including blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing and weight management
  • Sexual health advice
  • Referral information to a range of local health services

Anyone can be seen by a Supercare Pharmacy nurse, no matter their age or whether they are from a non-English speaking background (interpreter services available when required). You do not need a Medicare card to see a nurse, and tourists can also access the services.
